Setting up Components of a Configuration Type BOM Template

Each configuration type has individual settings related to the automatic creation of production or assembly BOM lines using a BOM template.

  • A BOM template consists of groups of components.
  • Each component group can contain any number of BOM components.

Setup

To define or modify settings for configuration type BOM component lines:

  1. Choose Lightbulb that opens the Tell Me feature icon, enter Configuration Types, and then select a related link.

  2. On the Configuration Types list page, select the type that you want, and then open the configuration type tab.

  3. On the Configuration Type Card page in the BOM menu, select the BOM Template action.

  4. On the Configuration Type Component Groups tab select the group you want, and then in the Navigation menu select the BOM Lines action.

  5. On the Configuration Type BOM Lines page create new lines or modify existing lines by filling in the fields as needed.

  • Type - Specifies the type of a BOM component.
Tip

The BOM component type can be another configuration type. The functionality allows you to create nested configuration types that are dependent on each other, which allows you to create both master inventory and component inventory at the same time. To learn more, see: Nested Configurations.

  • No. - Specifies the number of a BOM component.
  • Unit of Measure Code - Specifies the unit of measure code for the BOM component.
  • Qty. Rounding Precision - Specifies to which multiple of which value the rounding will occur.
  • Qty. Rounding Direction - Specifies how rounding occurs. Possible values are Nearest value, Up and Down.
  • Description - Specifies a description of the BOM component.
  • Description 2 - Specifies a description 2 of the BOM component.
  1. In the next step, define or modify the conditions for the lines. To specify conditions for the selected row, in the Navigation menu select the Conditions action. To learn more, see the Conditions Setup article.
Tip

Advanced Product Configurator allows you to easily copy conditions from other lines. To copy conditions:

  1. Choose a line to which you want to copy conditions.
  2. In the Processing menu select the Copy Conditions action.
  3. Choose a line from which you want to copy conditions.
  4. Select the OK button.
