Setup Import and Export

Advanced Product Configurator allows you to easily export and import the configuration type setup. The data is exported to an xml file, which can then be imported into another database or company.

Export

To export specific configuration type settings to an XML file:

  1. Choose the Lightbulb that opens the Tell Me feature icon, enter Import/Export Configuration Type Wizard, and then select a related link.
  2. On the Import/Export Configuration Type Wizard page, in the User Action field, choose Export and then Next.
  3. Choose a configuration type that you want to import from the list by selecting the Include in Export/Import checkbox. All common data will be automatically included in the file.
  4. Choose Next.
  5. The system will close the page and begin downloading the XML setup file.

Import

To import configuration type setup from the exported XML setup file:

  1. Choose the Lightbulb that opens the Tell Me feature icon, enter Import/Export Configuration Type Wizard, and then select a related link.
  2. In the User Actions choose Import and Next.
  3. Select the xml or zip file, from which you want to get data. It must be a file created by the wizard, otherwise the functionality will not work properly.
  4. Select the configuration types you want to import from the list by selecting the Include in Import/Export checkbox (only the selected configuration types will be created in the system).
  5. Decide whether common data such as attributes, values, and types are necessary for import by selecting the Include in Import/Export (all common data will be saved in the system). Otherwise, only common data related to the selected configuration types will be imported. Then, choose Next.
  6. After the data is imported successfully, the system closes the wizard. Now, all selected data should be in the system.
Tip

If the imported configuration type code is identical as the code already existing in the system, a warning is displayed. Any repetitive configuration type names are selected in the Exists field. To import such configuration type, you should first rename it by selecting the unused code in the Configuration Type Code column. Otherwise, if you try to import this configuration type without renaming it, an error message will be displayed.
