Key Usage Scenarios
Create a receiver company
Search for Companies and choose Lists.
Enter the name for a new company and choose OK.
Enable IT Manager profile
Search for profiles (Roles) and choose Lists.
Find the IT Manager profile and choose Edit.
Set the Enabled field to yes.
Select My Settings.
Choose Open assist edit in the Company field.
Select a newly created company and select OK on the Settings page.
Search for Web Services and select Lists.
Find a service for Codeunit 20020709 with ReceiverWS in the Service Name field and select its SOAP URL.
If a pop-up notification appears, close it and copy or write down the address:
The address should have a form of http://<SERVER>:<NUMERIC_PORT>/<INSTANCE>/WS/<COMPANY>/Codeunit/ReceiverWS. The http:// prefix may be required depending on a browser.
Close the opened tab to go back to the Dynamics Business Central page.
Go to My Settings and choose Open assist edit in the Role Center field.
Select IT Manager in the Role Center field.
Change the company back to CRONUS International Ltd. and choose OK.
Go to MDMS/MDMS Setup.
Choose Edit and select the Master Company and Auto Synchronize fields.
Go to MDMS/MDMS User Setup.
Enter own user ID in the User ID field and select the checkbox in the MDMS Super User field**.**
Go to MDMS/Receivers.
Enter a receiver number in the No. field for the receiver and enter the copied SOAP URL, your username and password on the Web Services FastTab.
Select More Options/Actions/Test Connection.
If a dialog box with a permissions request is displayed, select OK. The success dialog box should appear.
Set up Data Set
Data Set is a definition of a data structure that will be sent from the master company to a receiver company. There can be many data sets defined, but only within the maaster company. In the example below, a data set containing two fields of table 13 will be defined. Please make sure that you have permission to use this table in the receiver company.
Go to MDMS/Data Sets.
Enter No. for a new data set and add table 13 as a new line.
Go to More options/Line/Fields.
Choose the Add fields action.
Add the Name field.
Close the details page and choose Process/Release to release the data set.
Set up Replication
By using replication, data sets can be connected to receivers. Each replication can have multiple data sets but only one receiver and they are defined only in the master company. In the example below, a connection will be set up to connect the data set we have created with the receiver.
Go to MDMS/Replications:
Fill the No. , Receiver and Data Set fields for the replication.
Choose the Release action**.**
Run Full Replication
Full Replication is used to send all the records defined in the data set from the master company to the receiver company.
Search for Salespeople/Purchasers and open Lists.
If the page is not displayed as a list , switch the view and make sure that the Edit List action is selected.
Change names in the Name(s) field.
Go to MDMS/Replications.
Open the replication record created.
Run full replication with the Run (Full) action.
Switch the company to Receiver on the My Settings page.
Go to the Salespeople/Purchasers page.
Check if the names have been changed.
Switch the company back to Cronus International Inc.
Run Incremental Replication
Incremental Replication is used to send only records that were changed or created after the last replication.
Go to the Salespeople/Purchasers page, change a name and add a new record.
Go to the replication and choose Run(Incremental).
Switch the company to Receiver and check if the records have been changed and created.
Switch company back.
